The Great Babe Ruth and Making Disciples!

Babe Ruth. Almost all Americans know the name. Babe Ruth, the Sultan of Swat, the Great Bambino. Yes, as we know, Babe Ruth was one of baseball’s all time greatest pitchers. No, that is not a typo. Yes I know that Babe Ruth hit over 700 home runs and is considered one of the greatest home run kings in baseball. But many do not know this – people who watched Babe Ruth play say he was also one of the most talented pitchers they ever saw and in fact if he would have decided to be a pitcher he may well have been one of the greatest in history. Now that’s amazing -- such natural talent all in one person!
You know, we are all Babe Ruth’s when in God’s hands. God gives us all special abilities – and not just one. We are all called by and anointed by God to be disciple-makers. You may not think that is your strength – but God will enable you. Others may not think you can do it – but God can use you mightily. I want to encourage you t0 step out and tell the Lord you are available to be a disciple-maker. God will bring you people to disciple, if we can help with First Steps materials we will – but be assured – you can be a disciple-making King for the Lord.
I don’t think God is really impressed with the accomplishments of sports figures, actors, politicians, and so on. But we always get God’s attention and blessings when we decide we will help to fulfill the Great Commission – to go and make disciples. So get going. Take a big swing. You can do it!
