Managing One-on-One Relationships
Written by Ray Willis
One-on-one relationship is the most effective form of discipleship, but how do we manage those relationships to ensure that we are moving new believers toward maturity in Christ?
Managing one-on-one relationships is what we’ll focus on in the next installment of blog postings, and we’d love to hear from you.
Some have no qualms about meeting with someone else to help build a foundation of faith. Others are terrified. Some have difficulty keeping meeting times to an hour. Others feel that an hour is too long. Some people hate when the person they’re discipling shows up late, and some disciplers have a hard time showing up on time. Some have such a strong gift of mercy that the meeting times tend to digress into counseling sessions, and there are those of us who aren’t filled with the gift of mercy so we shy away from needy people.
All of these issues and more—many more—crop up as we disciple, so how do we handle those situations to work toward our primary objectives? Great question…and that’s what we’ll be discussing, so get ready to share from your experiences, remembering to respect confidentiality.
